Watched the The Great British Sewing Bee? Interested in interiors design or styling? Join us for an immersive Sewing Skills Day at Renew, where you'll dive into the heart of sewing and uncover the secrets to sewing and take home your home made scatter cushions.

Come and join us at our state of the art facility in Trafford Park. We take Greater Manchester's donated items and turn them into value. Each year we donate £225k to local charities and good causes. By taking this workshop your helping us, help them!

What to expect on the workshop:

 

Our specialised sewing skills workshop is designed for both beginners and experienced individuals seeking learn new skills in sewing. Throughout the day, our expert instructors will guide you through a series of essential skills, including:

 

Basics of using an industrial sewing machine: Learn how to use an industrial sewing machine. Learn how to do different stitches and techniques as well as maintain the machine while using it.

Fabric patterning:  Learn how to pattern your piece for sewing. Using guided techniques to ensure clean sewing.

Fabric cutting: Gain proficiency in the art of fabric cutting. Our experienced instructors will teach you how to measure, mark, and cut your materials with precision, ensuring a perfect fit for your cushions.

Specialised techniques: Learn the art of creating clean and precise piping, fringin and sewing zips. All fundamental skills in sewing. Discover how to choose the right fabric, master the sewing techniques, and create beautifully finished edges for your furniture.

 

Workshop details:

 

Duration: A full day of comprehensive learning.

 

Timings: The workshops take place on Tuesdays at the Renew Hub. The session begins at 9am and concludes at 3pm, with breaks and a lunch period.

 

Location: Greater Manchester Renew Hub, Nash Road, Trafford Park, M17 1SX. Parking is available on site and the nearest tram stop is Trafford Centre.
