Upholstery Deep Buttoning - Beginner & Intermediate workshop
Are you a budding upholsterer who wants to learn the art of deep buttoning? Are you a seasoned upholsterer who wants to master this technique? Join us for a fun and interactive workshop that will give you an introduction to upholstery, where you will learn how to master the skill of deep buttoning.
What to expect on the workshop:
Our experienced instructor will guide you through the process of selecting materials, cutting and upholstering your foot stool. You'll learn all the tricks of the trade and leave with a beautiful and functional piece of furniture that you can proudly display in your home.
This workshop is perfect for beginners or those with some experience looking to hone their skills. Most materials and tools are provided but you need to bring a 2 metres of fabric of your choice. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to learn a new skill and create something beautiful!
You will leave the session with:
- An understanding of the different tools used for modern upholstery
- Knowledge on how to handle tools correctly to avoid damage to wood and yourself
- Know why each tool and material is used for specific steps
- Understand materials used for modern upholstery
- Understand the steps involved in upholstering a footstool, using modern methods and materials
- Master the mapping and folding for buttoning
- Making buttons from scratch
- Threading your buttons
Workshop details:
Duration and timings: The workshops take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Renew Hub. The session will start at 10am and last approximately 4 hours.
Location: Greater Manchester Renew Hub, Nash Road, Trafford Park, M17 1SX. Parking is available on site and the nearest tram stop is Trafford Centre.
What's included:
Most tools and materials are included except the fabric you choose to use. You will need to bring 2 metre of upholstery fabric (fire retardant) contact Paul if you’re unsure of the suitability: [email protected]

The cost for the workshop is £150.
