Are you a budding upholsterer eager to enhance your skills? Does your dining set needs some TLC and you don't want to spend thousands on replacing it? Join us for an immersive Furniture Upcycling Day at Renew, where you'll dive into the heart of upholstery and upcycling.
Come and join us at our state of the art facility in Trafford Park. We take Greater Manchester's donated items and turn them into value. Each year we donate £225k to local charities and good causes. By taking this workshop your helping us, help them!
What to expect on the workshop:
Our specialised workshop is designed for both beginners and experienced individuals seeking to elevate their upholstery craft. Throughout the day, our expert instructors will guide you through a series of essential skills, including:
Prep: How to prepare wooden furniture ready for sanding. Learn the tools and techniques to sand, prep and set to get the smoothest finish.
Painting & Finishing: Learn about different paints, waxes and lacquers and when to use them. With guided lessons on painting techniques to get a professional finish.
Fabric cutting: Gain proficiency in the art of fabric cutting. Our experienced instructors will teach you how to measure, mark, and cut your materials with precision, ensuring a perfect fit for your upholstered pieces.
Basic upholstery skills: Learn to use the correct tools and a compressed air gun to staple your new fabric onto the seat of your dining chair.
Workshop details:
Duration: A full day of comprehensive learning.
Timings: The workshops take place on Tuesdays & Wednesdays at the Renew Hub. The session begins at 9am and concludes at 3pm, with breaks and a lunch period.
Location: Greater Manchester Renew Hub, Nash Road, Trafford Park, M17 1SX. Parking is available on site and the nearest tram stop is Trafford Centre.
